OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND ETHICS
At Palmar, ethical craftsmanship is our mantra. We stand firm in fostering socially responsible practices within our operations and our wide network of partners. We have established an intricate Code of Conduct, reflecting globally recognized labor norms, ensuring fairness and respect at every level of production.
This Code forms the backbone of our sustainability vision, laying the groundwork for significant Corporate Social Responsibility dialogues. It outlines basic obligations we require from our suppliers, bolstering our commitment to enhance conditions together, fostering enduring, mutually beneficial relationships. We believe that upholding these standards paves the way for success benefiting all parties: employees, suppliers, ourselves, and, ultimately, our customers.
Our labor standards are clear and precise:
· Employment is a choice: we vehemently condemn forced labor.
· Equality matters: discrimination in employment is strictly unacceptable, irrespective of race, nationality, gender, social class, political views, union membership, religion, or disabilities. Any form of abuse or harassment is categorically forbidden.
· No child labor: we stringently enforce the minimum employment age of 15 years and reject child labor exploitation.
· Fair wages: wages must meet the legal minimum or higher, accounting for a standard working week. Our aim is to ensure our employees are financially secure and comfortable.
· Sensible working hours: regular overtime exceeding 48 hours a week is not condoned. Any necessary overtime should be voluntary, adequately compensated, and should not exceed 12 hours per week.
· Safe and healthy workspaces: prioritizing worker safety is non-negotiable. We adhere to national safety regulations and ensure our employees are well-informed about potential industry-specific hazards.
· Legal employment relationships: we discourage labor-only contracts or apprenticeships designed to circumvent social laws and regulations.
